The most important source for bibliography of books and articles concerning regional resources for Latin America is the annual Handbook of Latin American Studies (http://lcweb2.loc.gov/hlas/) produced by over 130 contributing editors under the editorship of the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress. Additional coverage of journal articles can be found through a subscription to the Hispanic American Periodical Index (http://hapi.gseis.ucla.edu/).   Both the Handbook and HAPI are available in selected libraries in book form.  

One of the major aggregators for links to a wide variety of subjects relating to regional resources for Latin America is the University of Texas' LANIC (http://lanic.utexas.edu/subject/regional.html). Another site one should especially note is the site prepared by the Law Library of the Library of Congress for international and multinational information on their Guide to Law Online (http://www.loc.gov/law/guide/x-multi.html).

THE LATIN AMERICAN ALLIANCE NETWORK  (http://www.latinsynergy.org)
An environmental organization which is a project of the World Stewardship Institute. Provides forest and statistics maps, NGO's Country Directory, articles in English and in Spanish.
 
ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES  (http://bibpurl.oclc.org/web/4114)
Contains information about the OAS, its agencies, and their programs, including the OAS Foreign Trade Information System (SICE), promotion of human rights and democracy, environmental and telecommunications policy, and Inter-American Data Bank. Features directory of OAS permanent missions; texts of press releases, public speeches, weekly and annual reports; legal documents (including OAS Charter, resolutions, treaties, and conventions); and links to other gopher and Web sites of the Americas.
