The most important source for bibliography of books and articles concerning Peru is the annual Handbook of Latin American Studies (http://lcweb2.loc.gov/hlas/) produced by over 130 contributing editors under the editorship of the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress. Additional coverage of journal articles can be found through a subscription to the Hispanic American Periodical Index (http://hapi.gseis.ucla.edu/).   Both the Handbook and HAPI are available in selected libraries in book form.

One of the most extensive online resources about the Andean and Coastal flora of Peru and Chile. This site has searchable databases of native phanerogams that include information about their natural habitat, scientific names, and even photographs in most cases. There is also a section about the natural environments of the region such as the coastal deserts, mountains forests, alpine formations, eastern , lowlands, etc. The Web page table of content includes the following topics: a section on El Niño, publications, plant families, environments, publications, database activites, new literature, project staff, and links to resources. APECA: ASSOCIATION PROMOTING EDUCATION AND CONSERVATION OF THE AMAZON  (http://www.apeca.org/)
APRCA, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of education and conservation of the Peruvian Amazon rain forest, its native populations and cultures. Founded in 1993, APECA began as a floating health clinic delivering medical services and first-aid supplies to the remote Amazon River villages. The organization is based on the Amazon River south of Iquitos. Since then, APECA has established programs in health education, nutrition, and sanitation. In English and Spanish.
